IT IS JAN.-OCT. OF 1963.
HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA.

Before The Beatles, before JFK's
assassination, before Vietnam,
before hippies, before drugs,
before rebellious attitudes.

AN INNOCENT TIME
IN AMERICA

Four 11th grade 16-year old Jewish boys
who attend
Hollywood High School have had a band
for two years. Their goal--get a record on
radio station KHJ.

In the meantime, they live the typical
youthful Hollywood lifestyle of the time.
Malt shops, movies, juke boxes,
Hollywood And Vine, The Sunset Strip,
Beverly Hills, the beach, cars, cruise
nights, school dances, Granada Chinese
Theater,
their favorite street--Morse Ave.-- with
Kerr's burger place,
Ashkenaz Delicatessen,
33 Tastes Ice Cream Parlor,
Rosen's Record Store, Yale's Malt Shop,
Charles Variety Store
and their main interest--GIRLS--
occupy the lives of the four boys.
They do go to Synagogue as well!--
Temple B'nai Zion in the Fairfax area.

On the only instruments their parents can
afford--Sparkletone--from a big chain
department store, the band hopes they'll
get that big break sooner or later!

The band's writing team of
Eliot and Leslie turn out pop songs
and ballads.

BAND MEMBERS

Eliot Stern – Singer/Lead-Rhythm Guitar
Eliot is witty, good-natured and loves
magic, cheeseburgers and sitcoms.

Leslie Sherwin – Singer/Bass Guitar
Leslie is pensive, poetic, an incredible
writer and loves candy.

Jeff Sanders – Drummer
Jeff is sarcastic, curious and loves
chemistry experiments/inventions and
fashionable clothing.

Ricky Weiss – Keyboard
Ricky is a practical joker--constantly
keeping everybody amused with his antics,
he loves surfing and is overly charming.

Coming Soon - Their Girlfriends, The
School Genius, The Mean Jewish Girls,
The School Bully and The Ultimate Cool
Kid (so he thinks)

The live animation features authentic
replications of original music a young band
would be writing and performing in 1963.
Intentionally imitating the basic and limited
instrumental
sounds, recording techniques of the era,
the HOLLYWOODS take us back to a
special time in American life and culture.
Four young guys in their garage in early
1963!

The first 12 songs were actually
written by Eliot alone or by the team of
Eliot/Leslie for their band
“The Galaxies” when they
were 10-13 years old from 1963—1966
while growing up in the east Rogers Park
section of Chicago, Illinois.

The actual original band "The Galaxies" is
recreated as the "Hollywoods" in song,
stories and animation 50 years later.
